On January 24, 2024, a regular meeting of the International Accreditation Board (IAB) took place. The meeting was opened by Alexander Kulikov, Head of the Russian Register (RR) program for independent assessments of the quality of education. In his welcoming speech to the Board members, he thanked the colleagues who took part in the APQR external review during the period 18-19 January 2024.
The educational programs of St. Petersburg State University of Transport of Emperor Alexander I and the St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering underwent through accreditation programme and received good feedback from the expert groups. The Board members supported the proposals on the terms of accreditation.
In addition to accreditation issues, the Board members discussed the methodological aspects of the Agency’s activities in assessing the quality of education. Thus, Oleg Kulikov, an expert auditor of the voluntary certification system of Roszdravnadzor, drew attention to the need to upgrade the expert feedback template with data on the percentage of compliance of accredited educational programs with the requirements of the Russian Register standard used for international accreditation purposes.
Dr. Eleonora Onishchenko, Professor of the Department of Pedagogy of Primary Education and Artistic Development of the Child, Institute of Childhood, A.I. Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University, suggested paying more attention to the efficiency of the resources used by the university, incl. personnel, information, didactic and methodological materials.
Continuing the discussion, Dr. Evgenia Korneva, coordinator of the RR program for independent assessments of the quality of education, stated the need to maintain feedback from the Board members.
All recommendations are highly important and will be taken into account when planning future activities of the RR to develop independent assessments of the quality of education.
